Instructions for use of Nosten2®
1/ Decontaminate Nosten2®
2/ Inflate the Soufflet®
3/ Adjust the pressure
4/ Duration of use
1/ Decontaminate Nosten2®
> Put the sliding mass on the smallest number.
> Raise and tilt the mobile pan.
> Soak a disposable wipe with the decontaminant commonly used in the Service (e.g: Anios, Surfanios, …).
> Rub all the surfaces of Nosten2® for a perfect decontamination.
2/ Inflate the Soufflet®
> Take the Soufflet® out of its packaging and place it between the 3 Nosten2® studs.
> Take a 60cc syringe with “Luer lock” tip.
> Screw the syringe on the “3-way stopcock” of the Soufflet®.
> Inflate the Soufflet® by turning the tap to search for air without unscrewing the syringe.
> Repeat the action 5 times to inject 300cc of air. The top of the Soufflet® should be spherical but flexible under finger pressure.
> Replace the Nosten2® mobile pan on the Soufflet®.
The base of the front edge of the mobile pan must be at the height of the notches of Nosten2®. If it is not aligned, remove air from the Soufflet® with the syringe still connected to the “3-way stopcock”.
3/ Adjust the pressure
Adjust the pressure of the Soufflet® by positioning the sliding mass of Nosten2® on one of the values indicated on the top of the pan. These values correspond to 1 cm of water to the values given by the manometer.
=> Adult patients: place the sliding mass on the value 24 (front part at the level of the notch of the sliding mass).
=> In pediatrics: leave the Nosten2® sliding mass in position on the minimum pressure (front part at the level of the notch of the sliding mass).
Connect the “Luer lock” located at the end of the Soufflet® tubing to the non-return valve of the patient’s balloon air line. Adjust the pressure according to the patient’s needs by moving the Nosten2® sliding mass.
The correct position of the mobile pan must be checked once a day by the nursing team. If some additional air has been necessary to maintain the correct position, the other nursing teams must be informed.
4) Duration of use
> After 30 days of use, discard the ‘Bellows’ and place a new ‘Bellows’ in the slot provided in the Nosten2 for further use.
Maintenance of Nosten2®:
To facilitate the movement of the sliding mass if necessary: lift the mobile pan, hold it vertically and place silicone oil at the top of the groove traced in the thickness of the pan.
